Reflexology Lymph Drainage

Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) is an award winning technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet. It is a unique sequence that has been researched and developed by Sally Kay BSc (Hons), whilst working with patients who had been treated for breast cancer.

One of the possible side effects after surgery or radiotherapy to the axillary (underarm) lymph nodes is secondary lymphoedema. This is defined as tissue swelling where there is failure in lymph drainage. Currently there is no cure for this awful condition and as you might imagine, not only does it change a person's appearance but it can also cause psychological and emotional difficulties.

Sally has been training reflexologists to use the RLD protocols, both nationally and internationally, and through their case studies, early indications are that RLD may be useful with a range of other conditions: fibromylagia, CFS/ME, arthritis and other inflammatory auto-immune disorders.

I have personally been treated by a RLD practitioner after I had my right hip replaced in December 2016. Prior to the surgery, I treated myself to minimise the pain and effects of the severe osteoarthritis that had caused the hip joint to become inflexible. Post-surgery, I arrived home with my right thigh about 4 inches larger in circumference than my left. Not only was it very uncomfortable, but it also stopped me from doing my exercises. Fortunately, after just one RLD treatment, there was a significant reduction in the swelling - almost an inch - and it was much easier to bend the leg at the knee. Some patients continue to suffer from swelling for months until it has completely reduced, but mine disappeared within 4 weeks.

I recently treated a woman who has cellulite in her thighs and she is convinced that the "dimpling" was reduced after just one treatment.

"Since surgery for breast reconstruction, I had found it difficult to lift my arm above my head.  After just one session of RLD, I was amazed to find that I could put it straight up above my shoulder."
